The successful evacuation of all tourists stranded due to a landslide between Lachen and Chungthang in North Sikkim was completed today as part of Operation Him Setu, launched by the Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army.
Special buses and vehicles were arranged to transport tourists from Taram Chu via Chungthang to Gangtok.
Following the operation, Minister of Social Welfare, Mr. Samdup Lepcha, met with officials from the Army and the Border Roads Organisation and expressed his gratitude for their continuous efforts. Mr. Lepcha stated that despite adverse weather conditions and logistical challenges, the mission was successfully accomplished through collective effort and community spirit.
