Rampur (UP), April 6 Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Monday criticized the Congress and the Left, saying that those who are embracing each other in Delhi are busy "oppressing" each other in the politically sensitive state of Kerala.
Addressing a BJP Foundation Day programme here, Naqvi expressed confidence that the BJP would win the upcoming elections in West Bengal and said that the state had put up a "No Entry" sign on the "re-entry" of the TMC's "misrule".
Naqvi said that the TMC's "lawlessness" will end, and the BJP's "era of good governance" will be established in West Bengal.
He alleged that the TMC had failed to ensure the safety of "mothers", the dignity of "soil", and the empowerment of "people"; therefore, it is now attempting to misuse "Maa, Machhi, and Musalman" as a shield to cover up its misrule.
"Maa-Mati-Manush" is a political slogan coined by TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Targeting AIMIM chief Assaduddin Owaisi and his alliance partners in Bengal, Naqvi said, "In every election, some people try to become "kings" of the Muslims by donning a "secular sherwani" and engaging in "communal" politics".
"Their sole objective is to politically exploit the Muslims by spreading communal intolerance and untouchability against the BJP," he said.
Elections to the 294-member West Bengal assembly will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29. Votes will be counted on May 4.
Taking a dig at the Congress-Left sparring over the Kerala polls, Naqvi said, "Those who are embracing each other in Delhi are busy strangling each other in Kerala."
The Congress and the Left were both part of the INDIA bloc for the 2024 general elections and are taking on each other during the Kerala elections, where the Congress-led UDF is seeking to oust the LDF government.
Naqvi said the competition between the Congress and the Communists in Kerala to emerge as the "communal champion" is deflating their hollow ideological rhetoric and exposing their "opportunist, power-hungry politics".
Elections to 140 assembly seats in Kerala will be held on April 9.
Speaking on the current global crises, Naqvi said, "The world is witnessing how temporary conflicts between nations inflict permanent wounds on humanity".
He said that India is making earnest efforts to protect itself from the turmoil through prudence, sensitivity, dialogue and coordination.
