New Delhi, April 2 Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla cautioned Union ministers and MPs against engaging in lengthy conversations within the House during proceedings, warning that he would name them in the future.
As soon as the Zero Hour began at 12 noon, Birla stated that he had observed members and ministers engaging in half-hour conversations during House proceedings.
He clarified that short and important conversations were permitted, but not prolonged discussions. "I will name you in the future... it is important to maintain the dignity of the House," he said.
The speaker naming a member is considered a form of reprimand.
Earlier, during the Question Hour, the speaker had cautioned Independent MP Pappu Yadav against engaging in conversations with fellow members while addressing the Chair. He stated that a senior member like himself should refrain from such behaviour.
